How the Fixture Library Works

qDMX ships with a fixture library of more than 600 profiles from over 130 manufacturers. A profile tells qPlayer what each DMX channel on your fixture does, so once you pick your fixture and its channel mode, patching is automatic. Fixtures come in three flavours:

• Built in. The full channel map ships inside the app. These work completely offline from the moment you install, and some are hand-verified against the manufacturer's printed manual.
• On demand. The fixture is listed in the library, and the full channel map downloads the first time you select it. After that it is stored on your device and works offline like any built-in profile.
• Manual channel scan. Not on the list? The Setup Assistant can walk the fixture's channels live, flashing the light as it goes, so you identify what each channel does by watching the fixture itself.
• Scan the Manual. Still stuck, or prefer the paperwork? Attach a PDF or a photo of the DMX channel chart from your fixture's manual, and qPlayer builds the profile from the printed channel table. You review every channel before it is saved, so the list below is a head start, never a limit.

The on-demand catalogue is built on the Open Fixture Library, an open source community project, with qPlayer's own verified profiles layered on top.
